ECKSTEIN SCHOOL CLOSES FOREVER IN 1958
In 1958, the Eckstein School, closed, and separate education for Negroes came to an end in Glendale.
By 1955 the number of students enrolled at Eckstein had dropped to 72.
In 1955, the school districts: Crescentville, Evendale, Glendale, Sharonville, Springdale, Stewart, Runyan, and Woodlawn consolidated to form the Princeton School District.
The new Princeton High School opened its doors in September 1958.
With the new buildings finished and more room available, Eckstein School, the “colored” school on Washington Avenue in Glendale, closed its doors for the last time.
The Eckstein School closing ceremony took place on Sunday June 8th, 1958 in the school grounds.
