Glendale was once the terminus of the commuter line of the Cincinnati Hamilton & Dayton Railroad. The first station built on this site c. 1859 was a white wooden gothic style building. This building was destroyed in the fire of 1880. It was replaced by the brick structure. The Depot also served at times as the jail, a voting place and a meeting place for Village Council and the School Board. A wood turntable for reversing the train’s direction was once located northeast of the structure. Passenger trains stopped running during World War II.
