Woodward "Woodie" Garber (1913-1994) (Continued)

Miss Mary Johnston, a Procter heir, championed Woodie for several projects. She hired him to build her a summer house at Georgian Bay, Ontario, and enabled his design of a one-story addition to Christ Church in Glendale to house classrooms, a rector’s office and children’s chapel. Unlike his father, who added a chapel of similar style to the historic stone church, Woodie opted for high contrast. The orientation of the addition is horizontal rather than vertical. The interior and exterior blend through the incorporation of a courtyard and lots of glass, and he used hyperbolic paraboloid skylights in the chapel.

In 2013 the structure designed by Woodie was demolished and replaced with a larger facility with a more classic design.
