The Eckstein School (1940s) (Continued)

Geraldine Parrish began 1st Grade at Eckstein School in 1942. There was no kindergarten class at this time. She has many fond memories of Eckstein School. She particularly enjoyed the school operettas, plays and recitals.

Her favorite subject was English, which explains why Mr. Coyle, a teacher at Glendale High, was her favorite teacher. Geraldine says “Mr. Colye made poetry, literature, and Shakespeare come alive!”

As the Eckstein School graduate, with the highest four year grade point average at Glendale High School, from the Class of 1953, she was awarded the Davis Rickman Award.
