Christ Church Parish was established on July 9, 1865. A temporary church was built and later moved to St. Gabriel Church. That building was in place behind St. Gabriel’s until 2008 when it was razed. In 1868, the cornerstone was laid for the present Christ Church. The architects were Anderson and Hannaford. In 1915 an enlarged chancel and sanctuary were added as well as a large stone bell tower. The stained glass windows are especially beautiful.
