Stanley Matthews House, 125 East Fountain Avenue - C.1875
This house was the home of Judge Stanley Matthews who was one of the most influential citizens of Glendale. He was also a lawyer for the C.H.& D. Railroad. According to his grandaughter, Eva Cleveland, this house known as “Oakencroft”, had a stable for horses and cows, vegetable gardens and an orchard. The entrance orginally faced east with a flight of stone steps to the front porch. The house was remodeled in 1900 and then again in 1920 by Mr. & Mrs. Roger Rogan.
