Virginia Keys Galbraith

A life-long resident of Glendale, Virginia Galbraith was a graduate of Katherine Gibbs School in Boston. She married Robert M. Galbraith and together they raised four children.

From 1977, when the first home for Glendale Heritage Preservation was on the second floor of the Glendale Police Department, through its 1996 move into its current space in the historic railroad depot, Virginia led the effort to gather historic materials. She became the organization’s first archivist, acquiring papers and artifacts, setting up displays, and helping to tell the story of Glendale and its people.

She is honored by a plaque on the front of the historic depot that acknowledges her contributions: “Her commitment to the conservation of historical materials provided the core for Glendale Heritage Preservation’s archives. Her willingness to share her knowledge of Glendale’s past made her a valued resource for Glendale’s later generations.”
